Half Moon Yoga & Wellness
Born in the United States to Portuguese immigrants, Melanie grew up with an appreciation of difference, respect for tolerance and a strong desire to explore the world. She soon discovered that through the practice of yoga she establishes roots within herself that enable her to make the most of both beautiful and challenging experiences. Her heart-felt yoga practice and teaching is grounded in the belief that peace, love and happiness must be attained at the individual level before they can be shared with others, and that yoga is way to achieve those goals and change the world. Melanie teaches yoga classes and is a yoga therapist in Rochester, New York.
Melanie's experiences with pre-natal and infant health education in West Africa, pre-natal yoga in Brazil and the U.S. and a graduate education in women's health inspired her to become a Childbirth Doula. She uses her cross-cultural experience with pregnancy and birth to support women and partners from diverse backgrounds through their childbirth experience. Melanie believes that giving birth is something that a woman will remember for her entire life, and she strives to support mothers and their birth partners so they have a positive and empowering childbirth experience. Melanie attends births in the greater Rochester, New York region.
